Commercialism is actually a big part of our lives from the activities we engage into and the things we buy. As proof of this, see the continuous 3-day-sale frenzies. There is even a Martin Luther King Sale, Irish sale and the President’s Day Sale. Commercialism is also ever present in small thoughtful things such as the greeting cards. The mother’s day cards to be precise. As I hopped my way through sales craze being the chronic bargain hunter that I am, I decided to skid into one store to get this something but completely forgotten about it when my eyes caught the greeting cards section. My mind shifted gears at once when I saw them so I thought of picking up something nice for my mother and my mother in-law as well. And then commercialism amusingly hit me again as I saw different cards under different headings practically to be given to the women in our lives – mother’s day cards, cards for grandmothers, sisters, stepmothers, aunts, special women in our lives and the list goes on. Women definitely love this. Imagine getting each of these cards at some point in a woman’s life. I guess that’s how important and special women are. ----
