alpha romeo 145From world-renowned Italian auto manufacturer Alfa Romeo comes another impressive car model, Alfa Romeo 145. Launched in 1994 as a three-door hatchback car, the vehicle model is the company’s timely replacement for its ageing and outdated Alfa Romeo 33 car model. The car has been designed and manufactured to hold Alfa Romeo’s flag amid the intense competition for the middle-sized hatchback car market.

Performance wise, Alfa Romeo 145 is a winner. Car buyers attest that the vehicle is easily driven, citing its power steering, obedient gear change and excellent visibility features. The 1.8-liter, Twin Spark engine is complemented by a quick-rack steering system for better steering responsiveness, giving the driver more control. Moreover, the fizzing enthusiasm of the engine helps 145 suit its sporty character comfortably and naturally.

In terms of quality and reliability, Alfa Romeo 145 is a far improvement of its predecessor, 33. Experts note how Alfa Romeo succeeded in ensuring the quality as the company was known to be having a struggle about standards and quality at the time the 145 was being designed and developed. However, there is a constant need for the car to undergo general and thorough checkups for poor starting, misfiring, timing belts and electrical problems.

As for the exterior design, 145 is a bit classic, but its orientation is geared more towards its sporty drive. For this reason, the car model has been tagged as an unusual choice in its class. Inside the hatchback has sufficient and comfortable space so that the driver and passengers can have overall comfort even while on the road. There is an apparent generous space in the front, the back space is as adequate and a decent legroom is provided. The cabin storage is somehow limited in space, though. Another setback is that the interior is rarely serene while on a joyride session.

Alfa Romeo 145 is equipped with an immobilizer, an alarm and a central locking system to assure safety and security. Driver’s and passenger’s air bags are provided to ensure less-hazard in prompt situations like accidental crashing. The car has not yet received certification from the European New Car Assessment Program or Euro NCAP.

Regarding costs, expect to spend about £3,100 to £4,100 for a new unit of the car. Second-hand units call for a £500 to £1,000 price tag, pretty reasonable for the 145’s performance, pedigree and sporty character. Second-hand value is a good buy, but the tag price for a new 145 unit is still debatable.
